As the Chair of Graphics Multimedia Design program, Mark is a tireless advocate for the arts and promotes his program, both on and off campus. He works hard with faculty to keep the program current, engaging and relevant. He works with other art related programs to find common ground in the hopes of strengthening the division at large. Over the past five years, he has revised and revised again the GMD curriculum adding certificates, online courses and AA degrees; making certain to match or exceed industry standards. The program now encourages students to find their artistic voice and to put it into a professional portfolio. He is a committed working artist and an excellent teacher. He has exhibited his professional fine art work in local galleries and international film festivals. This unique combination of talents offers his COC students the perfect blend of classroom theory and practical, “real world” experience.

Mark travels extensively in search of new and unique art experiences. His trip to see the cave paintings of Font de Gaume was truly life altering. He uses his adventures to dialog with his students about the importance art, its enduring quality and how an arts education extends beyond the college experience and pays dividends throughout a lifetime.
